Wedding

Libby + Shane = aVenue wedding nashville

Libby + Shane have known each other since they were kids growing up together in Minnesota.  Their friends and family all came down to Nashville for their amazing aVenue wedding last weekend.  I have loved getting to know this amazing couple through their engagement session and grabbing craft beers together at 12 South Taproom.  If I have learned anything at all about these two it is that they LOVE their dog Finley...and I do too.  Finely even had the huge job of being the ring bearer for the wedding and totally nailed it.  Actually as good and even better than some humans I've seen try to tackle this job.

Hunter + Brandon

Hunter + Brandon are so sweet and fun to be around.  I had so much fun spending the day with them and their awesome family at their amazing wedding.  The whole day was really laid back and full of happy tears, laughter, and some sweet dance moves at the reception.  I also got to work with an all-star team of vendors which always helps to make for a low-stress wedding day.

Fake or Real?

Keela was walking down the hall towards the steps in the photo on her way to see her soon-to-be groom for the first time and as soon as I saw those steps I visualized the shot I wanted to take.  This moment was going to happen and I wanted to capture it.  I asked Keela to take her time walking up the steps.  During this brief discussion I was adjusting my settings to capture the moment.  She actually walked up the steps fairly quickly (which she realized and verbalized to me) but just having that brief moment of discussion allowed me to adjust my camera settings and capture what I believe to be a beautiful moment. What's the point?

There is a balance between capturing the day exactly as it unfolds and playing an active role as an artist to tell that story.  This moment was going to happen whether I was involved or not.  I realized the potential photograph about to happen and gave myself a few extra seconds to get ready for it.

One of My Favorite Moments...

...in a wedding ceremony.  The more time I have spent as a parent the more I have come to understand just how emotional and meaningful this day must be for parents.  I feel so blessed that I get to witness moments like this and the ones that take place before and after.  I shoot a lot of weddings in dark churches so I was happy to have perfect lighting for this shot.
