I feel like I blinked my eyes and 10 years went by. May 1st of 2009 was when I officially left my job as a Youth Minister and jumped full steam ahead into my career as a full time photographer.
So here I find myself almost 400 weddings later, thinking about all the amazing people this job has brought into my life. It might be difficult to understand, because it definitely sounds weird to try and explain, but it’s almost like I have a photographic catalog in my head of the photos I have taken. Just to be clear…I definitely do not have a photographic memory, but when you spend so much time capturing, editing, and blogging photos, they really start to leave an imprint in your mind.
When I think back through all the weddings I have photographed it fills me with nothing but gratitude, joy, and laughter.
Wedding days are incredibly unique because they encompass the full range of emotions and relationships we experience in this life. There is the joy of the couple who has fallen in love and chosen to spend the rest of their lives together. There are the proud parents who are passing off the responsibility of caring for their little girl. There are the grandparents who are spending some of their final days on this planet at the wedding mustering up just enough strength to dance with their beloved grandchild one last time.
Weddings are a snapshot of the beauty and complexity of life brought together in a single day.
I want to say a sincere ‘Thank You’ to all the family, friends, and couples that have trusted me to capture such an important day in their lives. I’m grateful of each and every one of you and excited to see who I get to meet next.
